This is my “Stagecoach Dress”; I don’t know why, but it has always made me think of “Surrey With a Fringe on Top”, and all those 1950’s and ’60’s westerns on television. The bodice uses, the Period Impressions Tea-Bodice Pattern.

mg4805This is actually based on an original garment, and another pattern can be found in Janet Arnold’s Patterns of Fashion 2:

I had wanted to make this dress for a long time. The dress itself was a period red and white calico, and I trimmed it in a red satin ribbon which I pleated until I wanted to cry, and secured with black velvet ribbon. The chemisette is a cream cotton with a very interesting stitching pattern of tiny zig zags; it meant I didn’t need to do much decorating! the undersleeves match, of course;)
